NWH to Host CEU on Specifying North American Hardwoods

Design professionals invited to explore sustainability, performance, and impact in free accredited session.

NWH will host an upcoming continuing education unit (CEU) focused on the role of North American hardwoods in sustainable design. The free, IDCEC-approved course, Specifying North American Hardwoods, offers 1.0 HSW credit and is open to designers, architects, and other building professionals.

The session will examine how hardwoods contribute to healthier environments and more responsible material choices, with a focus on ecological, cultural, and performance benefits.

Participants will learn to:

  • Identify the design and durability characteristics of North American hardwoods
  • Evaluate their carbon impact compared to other materials
  • Understand sustainability certifications and responsible forestry practices
  • Apply hardwoods in ways that align with wellness and environmental goals
