Glacial Species & Grades

Red Oak FAS yields at a minimum 83-1/3% clear-face cuttings on the best face. Reverse face to grade #1 Common or better. Minimum cutting sizes of 3” x 7’ or 4” x 5’. Minimum widths of 5″ and wider and lengths of 6′ and longer. NWH has a lower tolerance for split, side bend, warp, and mineral stain than NHLA standards and remedies with trim backs. Red Oak FAS is the highest grade available for long, wide cuts for larger finished applications such as furniture and millwork. We grade after drying and surfacing, and against all natural drying or surfacing defects (pin knot no defect).
