Western Species & Grades

Alder Character Mark is a structural and appearance grade with scattered sound and unsound defects. It yields 66-2/3% structurally sound fiber. Minimum cutting is best face full width x 2′ structurally sound cuttings and worst face Standard Frame & Better. Good for finger joint applications and rustic/distressed appearance. Character Mark is a mix of sound knot #2, Premium and Standard Frame. We grade after drying and surfacing, and against all natural drying or surfacing defects (pin knot no defect).
