The 2026 NWH Alder Seedling Program

Requests Your Seedlings Now!

It’s time to grow again! Over the last two years we’ve helped 70,000 seedlings find new homes, and we’re thrilled to kick off the 2026 Alder Seedling Program, co-sponsored by NHLA. This important initiative empowers small landowners to replenish the rich alder forests of the Pacific Northwest and British Columbia.

The Importance of Alder

Why the Alder Seedling Program Matters

Alder trees are essential to forest health, enriching nutrient-poor soils by fixing nitrogen and providing vital forage and habitat for wildlife, which enhances biodiversity. Despite their importance, Alders are often overshadowed by more commercially popular softwoods like Douglas fir, leading to their decline. By participating in the Alder Seedling Program, you help restore and sustain these ecological powerhouses, ensuring their continued benefit to our forests for generations to come.

Request Seedlings

We welcome all requests for seedlings, but please note that we may not be able to fulfill every request. We will take every request into consideration and do our best to meet the demand. First priority will be given to smaller landowners. Seedlings will be coordinated for distribution from the NWH facility in Longview, WA, in Spring 2026.

For questions outside of ordering seedlings, please call Caitlin Wind at 541.606.4094.
